About Us

The Network of Georgian Theologians Abroad unites Georgian theologians and students who are outside the borders of Georgia and who are active, teach or study at theological faculties, universities, or scientific and research institutes abroad.

In 2016, an idea emerged which aimed to unite all Georgians working in the field of theology outside of Georgia, regardless of their academic qualifications. This initiative laid the foundation for the annual gatherings of Georgian theologians and students in various European countries. Since 2018, a total of six such meetings have been organised.

The first meeting was held in 2018 in the German city of Düsseldorf and was, to a certain extent, introductory in nature. The sharing of university experiences from various European countries laid the foundation for subsequent collaboration.

The annual meetings of Georgian theologians and theology students working outside Georgia’s borders provide a platform, which aims to stimulate academic activity, deepen scientific cooperation, and share theological and educational experience, the promotion of theological discussion and dialogue.

The Network of Georgian Theologians abroad is not a legal entity. It promotes Georgian academic theology within European and Western academic circles. Its primary postulate is the development of Christian ecclesiastical theology, the clarification of the faith, and the promotion of Georgian Christian heritage.
