(July 21, 2021)
Yesterday, on July 21 of this year, Georgian theology students (at various academic levels) from various European countries held an informal online meeting – a “round table”, dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church (Crete 2016).
At the “round table”, we shared our reflections on the Cretan Council and its documents, and many interesting opinions, observations, critical views, expectations, and future perspectives were expressed.
Future plans were also made to repeat the informal virtual meeting in 1 month, at which a work plan would be presented to gradually prepare a collection dedicated to the Council of Crete, and along with Georgian translations of documents, various articles related to the thematic issues of the Council would be included. At the suggestion of Archimandrite Ilia Jinjolava, the publication of the aforementioned collection will be provided by the Georgian Parish of Constantinople.
In conclusion, the importance and necessity of such meetings were noted, as well as the involvement of a wider circle in such discussions in the future, for which the door is open to those who wish.
